Children, however, are significantly more reactive to prolonged exposure to solar radiation than adults, mainly because their bodies are underdeveloped.

1) Acquire Protective Swimwear with a UPF30 or More

2) Avoid Basking during Peak Sun Hours

3) Cover the Baby

  • Cover the baby’s head with a wide-brimmed hat, preferably with a chin strap. The purpose of the strap is to ensure the hat remains in position throughout.
  • In instances where the baby is in water, it is preferable to use a legionnaire hat. This is because, in addition to the head, this protective hat also covers the neck.
  • During walks, an infant should be placed in a stroller. Typically, strollers provide the shade that regulates exposure to the sun.
  • While they are often overlooked, eyes should also be covered during outings with the infant. To do this, the parent should purchase kid sunglasses.



4) Stay Under Shades

Due to the incredibly high temperatures during summer, staying indoors might be untenable. On such occasions, it is recommended to seek shades to avoid exposure to harmful UV rays.

5) Invest in a Reputable Sunscreen and Apply It Regularly

6) Frequent Hydration

For newborns, it is vital to regularly breastfeed them to maintain normal hydration rates. For older kids, it is advisable to carry bottled water.


 

Despite its side effects, basking in the sun is a source of vitamin D, as a result, due to the practice mentioned above, parents should seek alternative sources to this essential nutrient.
